    Happy New Year

I decided to ring in 2008 by waking up at 4am and driving to Desaru to watch the sunrise and surf. Here is the first light of 2008 reaching Malaysia.

    16-0 Patriots

The Patriots played the Giants today in their last game of the season.  They won 38-35 becoming the 1st team since the 1972 Dolphins to go undefeated.  FYI, back then, there were only 14 games in the regular season.   I watched the game on my Slingbox here in Singapore (kick off was 9am) trying hard to recreate the good old American atmosphere I miss so much.  I had fried chicken, some sort of Japanese crackers (they are fat free), Cherry tomatoes (needed something organic), and beer.

Some might say 9am is a litter early for beer.... but hey, like I always say, it is 12 o'clock somewhere.

This is what sling box looks like on my 40'' Samsung TV.  It looks pretty good and the sound comes out of the TV.  I can't blow it up full screen tho because the picture gets too grainy.

    Saturday surfing trip

I stop and get breakfast from these ladies on my way to surf in Malaysia just about every weekend... sometimes more than once.  Today's fare was curry puffs and this rice w/egg in a banana leaf.

    獅子山 Lion Mtn

After 5 months in Singapore... I finally got to hike up a mtn again.  The hike itself was great but the smog ruined any view I might have enjoyed from the top.

    Hong Kong Hotel

I decided to stay at a hotel this time in Hong Kong rather than over stay my welcome at my friend's place(s).  This business hotel is smart and reasonable on Wanchai Road.  Check out the bathroom.

Singapore Breakfast: Kaya Toast & Cereal

Kaya toast is one of those interesting Singapore/Malaysia things.  It is basically coconut jam (with some egg and butter thrown in).  Pretty tasty.  I bought this jar in Malaysia for 1.5RM.

I brought 18 of these back to Singapore with me.  All in all.. they made the 18 hour flight better than I did!  Here they are:
